Leah D. Brilliandt of Leo, Indiana

LEAH D. BRILLIANDT, 87, of Garrett, passed away on Tuesday June12, 2018, at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett. Born in DeKalb County on Sept. 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Scott and Hazel (Smith) Malcolm. She had been employed at Byron Health Center as a nurse for many years. Leah was a Lifetime Master Gardener, of which she was especially proud. She also belonged to the North Leo Mennonite Church and Leo American Legion Post 409. Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Dave) Baldwin of Fort Wayne, and Sharon (Michael) Myers of Indianapolis; and sons, Samuel Blotkamp of Fort Wayne, and Scott (Carey) Fruits of Grabill. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Scott Malcolm and Wayne Malcolm, both of Garrett; and a sister, Nancy Delauder of Florence, Ky. She was also preceded in death by four sisters. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Thomas Funeral Home,1277 CR 56, Garrett, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Christian Union Cemetery, rural Garrett. Memorials in Leah’s name may be directed to the Master Gardener Program at the Purdue Extension Office, or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
