Raymond Omeri Parker, age 71 of LaOtto, IN died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born April 17, 1947 in Garrett, IN to Don E. and Alvah M (Swander) Parker. Ray married Karen Kae Houser on June 12, 1971 in LaOtto, IN. He worked in the repair department at Dana Spicer Axel - Ft. Wayne, IN for 30 years, retiring in 2000. Ray was a Navy Vietnam veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Daniel Webster and on nuclear submarines.
Ray was a member of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, National Threshing Association, Maumee Valley Antique Gas and Steam Association, and he was a supporter of Swan Township 4-H and was an avid collector of antique cars and tractors.
Ray is survived by his wife of 47 years: Karen Kae Parker, LaOtto, IN; 2 daughters: Jennifer (Christopher) Duerk, LaOtto, IN; Amanda (Eric Svenson) Parker, Ringwood, IL; 3 brothers: Gary Parker; James Parker; Allen Parker; sister: Jane Beverly; 2 grandchildren: Allison Duerk, Marshall, IL and Parker Duerk, LaOtto, IN.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home – Garrett, IN.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the United States Navy and the Garrett American Legion and VFW at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Bethlehem Cemetery – Rural LaOtto, Swan Road.
