Richard J. Sager Sr. age 92 of Auburn, IN died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at The Cedars – Leo, IN. Richard was born August 24, 1925 in Maumee, Ohio to Clarence and Georgia Sager. He married Katheryn J. Zelt on January 10, 1948 and she died April 20, 2011.
Richard was a graduate of Maumee High School, Maumee, OH and received his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1949. Richard served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He went on to a long career with Central Soya in Ft. Wayne, retiring in 1985 as Chief Financial Officer. Richard also was active in Volunteer work with the Heimach Center, The Arc of Ft. Wayne, Senior Corps of Retired Executives, and the Northeastern Center. He was a member of the Garrett Presbyterian Church.
Richard is survived by 4 sons and daughter in-laws: Richard (Patricia) Sager Jr., Carleton, MI; Mike (Sandee) Sager, Auburn, IN; Jack Sager, Huntertown, IN; Steve (Angie) Sager, Batavia, OH; 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Georgia Sager, wife: Kathryn Sager, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. with Rev. William Haworth officiating.
Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery – Auburn, IN
Memorials are to the Garrett Presbyterian Church or the Heimach Center.
