A. Katharine "Kate" Kleeman March 13, 1926 - April 27, 2012 A. Katharine "Kate" Kleeman age 86 of Garrett, IN died Friday, April27, 2012. She was born March 13, 1926 in Garrett, IN to Don E. and Alice H. (Harsh) Van Fleit and they preceded her in death. She was a clerk at the Garrett Telephone Company - retiring in 1983. She married Donald M. Kleeman on October 30, 1947 in Waterloo, IN and he died April 20, 1983. Kate was a graduate of Garrett High School and attended Purdue University. She was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church, founding member of the Garrett Alumni Association - serving as its corresponding secretary; Tri Kappa Sorority, and the Garrett Historical Society. Kate is survived by 2 sons and a daughter: Gary Kleeman, Garrett, IN; Jeff (Elaine) Kleeman, Angola, IN; and Ann Kleeman, Garrett, IN. 1 granddaughter: Stefanie Schupbach, Auburn, IN. and 2 great grandsons: Logan and Cole Schupbach, Auburn, IN. Kate was preceded in death by her parents: Don E. and Alice H. Van Fleit; husband: Don M. Kleeman; a son: John Kleeman; 2 brothers: Dr. William Van Fleit and James Herzer; and 3 sisters: Mary "Chubb" Clark, Betty Gordon, and Barbara Painter. Service will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN. with Dr. Scott Shoaff officiating. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 and 1 hour prior to services on Monday, April 30, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN Memorials are to the Garrett United Methodist Church or the Garrett Public Library Foundation.
