Anita Jo Tullis, age 71, of Kendallville passed away July 4, 2026 Anita Jo Tullis was born to Floyd & Marjorie Fetter on February 18, 1955. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School from grades 1-8 and graduated from Garrett High School in 1973. On June 22, 1974, Anita married Steven M. Tullis, the love of her life. Steven passed away on January 7th, 2014, as God took him way too soon but she tried to manage her grief from the loss. Her next love was her family. God blessed them with two beautiful children, Michael Tullis and Michelle Risser and a Daughter-in-law Elly Tullis. Doubly blessed she was given seven beautiful grandchildren, Emily & Joel Risser, Everett, Vada, Lucille, Helen and Rosanna Tullis. They were the light of her life. She loved their hugs, smiles and “I Love Yous”!!! She loved watching them grow up.
Anita worked hard all her life. She started working at an early age. Her brothers used to get upset with her because she made more money shoveling sidewalks than they did. Ron, Bill, and John also fought for the homemade cookies she was given. She hid candy under her mattress to keep her brothers and sisters from eating the candy. She would play cards for Halloween and Easter candy with her brothers but would always cry “Mom” if she lost. Her mom made the boys give the candy back! When her mom was alive, she loved spending time with her along with her two sisters, Connie & Tina. Her favorite memories were making Christmas cookies together and they continued this tradition every year after their mom died. The best part was eating frosting. Connie, Tina, and Anita would also take many trips together.
Anita enjoyed her high school years. She was in a terrible car accident in her senior year (1973), which nearly took her life. Her first job after recovering was an Engineering Secretary at Essex International from 1974 to 1981. She was also a Tupperware Manager while continuing to work full-time. From 1981-2020 she worked for Quick Tanks in Kendallville where she wore many hats there and was a Receptionist, Human Resources Manager, Sales Manager and Plan Benefit Manger of employee benefits. During this time, she started selling Longaberger while continuing to work full-time. She quickly moved up the ranks in Longaberger, becoming a sales manager. She excelled in sales and was in the top ten in the nation in sales for many different years. In her retirement years she sold life insurance, was recently training for a new job of trucking logistics and tutored at St. Joseph Catholic School in Garrett. Anita lived all her life in Garrett except for moving to Corunna in 2006 and Kendallville in 2018.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garrett. Anita was especially excited to help plan and participate in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 150th year celebration. She was a proud Honorary member of PSI Iota Xi Sorority - Garrett. She was a life-time member of the Garrett American Legion Auxiliary.
