Barbara Jean Shoudel age 84 of Garrett, IN passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Sacred Heart Village – Avilla, IN. Barbara was born September 21, 1940 in Fort Wayne, IN to Peter James and Gladys Marion (Pettit) Gerber .Barbara married Charles Edward Shoudel on October 6, 1962 in Garrett, IN. Barbara worked as the manager in the GKB School cafeteria for 33 years, retiring in 2006. She is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Rosary Society– Garrett, IN, and the Garrett America Legion Auxiliary.

Barbara is survived by her husband: Charles E. Shoudel, Ft. Wayne, IN; 2 sons: Tom (Sally) Shoudel, Garrett, IN; Chuck (Catalina) Shoudel, Kalamazoo, MI; daughter: Jamie (John) Kolasinski, Ft. Wayne, IN, 3 grandchildren: Madison (Ben) Warstler, Garrett, IN; Pete Shoudel, Garrett, IN; Grace Shoudel, Garrett, IN.; sister: Belva Joy Mossberger, Garrett, IN

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Peter and Gladys Gerber; 2 brothers: James R. Gerber and Carl L. Gerber.

Visitation will take place  from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN and 10-11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church

The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church – Garrett, IN with Fr. Brian Isenbarger officiating.

Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN

Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Masses.
