Betty U. Smith age 88 died Friday, November 12, 2010 at her home. She was born March 19, 1922 in Garrett, IN to Harry L. and Effie (Quinn) Miller and they preceded her in death. She married Delmar O. Smith on June 16, 1940 and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of Lakewood Park Baptist Church. She is survived by 3 sons: Myron G. Smith, Fort Wayne, IN; Timothy P. Smith, Fremont, IN; and David T. Smith, Harpers Ferry, WV. She is survived also by 3 daughters: Brenda C. Viers, Myrtle Beach, SC; Deborah L. Smith, Garrett, IN and Del Marie Burchardt, Vancouver, WA. She is survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Harry L. and Effie Miller; husband: Delmar O. Smith, 1st daughter: Ethel Ann Smith, brother: Charles "Bud" Miller; sister: Winifred "Winnie" Miller;and a grandson. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Lakewood Park Baptist Church.. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Lakewood Park with Pastor Russ Howard and Pastor Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN. Memorials are to Lakewood Park Baptist Church Deacon's Fund or DeKalb Memorial Home Health and Hospice Services.
