Carlus D. Butler age 81 of Auburn, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Betz Nursing Home- Auburn, IN. Carlus was born December 14, 1943 in Warsaw, IN to Carl A and Mabel Marie (Greider) Butler. He married Marcia K. Kumffer on June 20, 1970 in Ft. Wayne, IN and she passed away in June 21, 2017.

Carlus worked in production at G.E. – retiring in 2005. He was a member of the First Baptist Church – Garrett, IN and was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran.

Carlus is survived by his son: Shane Butler, LaOtto, IN; daughter: Kimberly Butler, Garrett, IN; granddaughter: Gabrielle Butler; brother: Bruce A. (Vickie) Butler, Syracuse, IN; sister: Ruth Ann (Terry) Mendenhall, Kendallville, IN; sister in-law: Linda Butler, Topeka, IN; brother in-law: James Bauman Sr., Garrett, IN.

Carlus was preceded in death by his wife: Marcia K. Butler; parents:  Carl A. and Mabel Marie Butler; brother: Phillip M. Butler; sisters: Alice Marie Bauman and Janet Kay Pressler.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN with Rev. David Mix officiating.

Visitation will take place from noon – 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Swan Cemetery – LaOtto, IN with military honors by the United States Army and the Garrett and Auburn American Legions.
