Carol J. Hathaway age 80 of Garrett, IN went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Miller’s Merry Manor – Garrett, IN. Carol was born May 7, 1946 in Garrett, IN to Lawrence “Larry” E. and Audrey N. (Clady) Gaff. Carol married DeWayne “Bud” C. Hathaway on October 8, 1967 in Garrett, IN and he survives in Garrett.

Carol was a teacher at Head Start and was a member of the first Church of Christ in Garrett, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. She had served on the board of director for Alliance Industries – Garrett, IN.

Carol is survived by her husband: DeWayne “Bud” Hathaway, Garrett, IN; son: Eric (Kristina) Hathaway, Auburn, IN; daughter: Wendy Hathaway, Garrett, IN, sister: Judy (Don) Francis, Garrett, IN; grandchildren: Kyle Hathaway, Auburn, IN; Lyle Savage , Auburn, IN; David Savage, Knoxville, TN; Elisha Mills, Garrett, IN; Autumn Farber, GA; Mikiala Priester, Ft. Wayne, IN; Alexis Mais, MI; 9 great grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Lawrence “Larry” and Audrey Gaff; brother: Gene Gaff; sister: Sandy Griffin; grandson: Ryan Hathaway.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 at the First Church of Christ- Garrett, IN with Brother Bud Owen officiating.

Visitation will take place Friday, August 7, 2026 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the church.

Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN

Memorials are to Alliance Industries or Waves of Mercy in Haiti.
