Carolyn J. Gilbert age 75 of Garrett, IN died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Parkview Regional medical Center - Ft. Wayne, IN. She was born March 15, 1939 in Randolph County to Kenneth L. and Thelma V. (Rinard) Huffman. She married Harry Gilbert Jr. on February 16, 1963 in Ohio and he died September 17, 2011. She was a cleaning lady at Ort's Furniture in Garrett, IN for 14 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene - Kendallville, IN. Carolyn is survived by 2 daughters: Wanda Gilbert, Auburn, IN and Carole (John) Petre, Auburn, IN; 1 son: Jim (Cheryl) Gilbert, Corunna, IN; Granddaughters: Amanda (Neil) Woodruff, Roanoke, IN and Rachelle Gilbert, Corunna, IN; 2 great grandsons: Connor Woodruff and Gavin Woodruff Roanoke, IN; 2 brothers: Jerry Huffman, Farmland, IN. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth L. and Thelma V. Huffman; husband: Harry Gilbert Jr.; son: David Gilbert; grandson: Ryan Gilbert; 2 brothers: Max Huffman and Dale Huffman; 2 sisters: Martha Lou Hiatt and Anna Lee Moyer. Visitation will be held from 4 -7 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Secor of Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene officiating.
