Carolyn L. Miller, age 71 of Auburn, IN died at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born December 21, 1937 in Wells County, IN to Denver and Mary (Herman) Simmerman. She married George A. Miller on November 1, 1958 in Auburn. Carolyn was a homemaker and attended LaOtto Wesleyan Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had worked at the church for many years. She loved to cook, have family gatherings and recognize friends and families birthdays. She is survived by her husband, George A. Miller of Auburn; 2 daughters, Kristine and Thomas Gruwell of LaOtto and Nora and Scott Place of Olivet, MI; 3 sons, Brian and Connie Miller of Garrett, Terry and Trisha Miller of Auburn and Daniel and Tina Miller of Waterloo. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Nicolas Gruwell of Fort Wayne, Trent and Rebecca Gruwell of LaOtto, Cierra Miller of Huntington, Tasha and Taya Ousley of Garrett, Denver Miller of Garrett, Ashley Miller of Auburn, Brock Pook of Olivet, MI, Mac Place of Eaton Rapids, MI and Joshua and Chelsea Miller of Waterloo. Her sister, Helen Carmean also survives in Ossian, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Fred Simmerman and a sister, Ruby Schwartz. Calling will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett and 1 hour prior to services. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the LaOtto Wesleyan Church in LaOtto with Pastor Tyler Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett. Memorials are to the LaOtto Wesleyan Chruch Food Pantry.
