Charles Ray Atkison age 84 of Garrett, IN passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Charlie was born August 14, 1939 in Sturgis, MI to Charles Dwight and Martha (Landis) Atkison and they preceded him in death. Charlie married Marilyn "sue" Wells on November 6, 1960 in Paulding, OH and she passed away on March 12, 2022.
Charlie was a pipefitter for the Plumber and Steamfitters Local #166, retiring in 1999. He was a United States Airforce veteran.
He was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church, Garrett American Legion Post #178, Masonic Lodge and Shrine and was a member of the Shriner's Car Club.
Charlie is survived by his son: David Atkison, Garrett, IN; daughter: Debi and Rick Jenkins, Kendallville, IN; brother: Lee Roy Atkison, VA; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Dwight and Martha Atkison; wife: Marilyn "Sue" Atkison.
A military graveside service by the United States Airforce and the American Legion will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN.
A Masonic Graveside service by the Forest Lodge#239 will follow the military honors.
A Celebration of Life will take place from noon – 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Garrett American Legion Post #178.
