Charles H. Summers Jr. age 87 of Garrett, IN died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett. He was born November 27, 1922 in Fort Wayne, IN. He married Beverly J. Cripe on October 18, 1946 in Fort Wayne and she died April 12, 2002. He had been an Auburn, IN resident for 44 years. He was a machine operator at Dana in Fort Wayne for 30 1/2 years, retiring in 1991. He was an Army Air Corp veteran, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Auburn Church of Christ. Charles is survived by a son, Charles H. "Churck" Summers III; 2 daughters, Mary L. Carlin and Carla L. Beerbower, all of Garrett. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and his adoptive parents, Charles H. and Mary (Parker) Summers. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Eel River Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Officiating will be Pastor Joseph W. Heins of the Auburn Church of Christ. Memorials are to the Auburn Church of Christ.
