Chris L. Gilbert, age 64, of Garrett, Indiana, passed away on January 30, 2026, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Born on May 8, 1961, in Columbia City, Indiana, Chris was a dedicated maintenance man at Dana Manufacturing in Columbia City, where he was respected for his work ethic and commitment.

Chris was a proud husband to Taresa A. Gilbert, whom he married on April 24, 1999, in Columbia City. Together, they built a loving family, including their daughter, Ashley Gilbert, who resides in Massachusetts, and their son, Kyle Gilbert, living in Florida. He was also the cherished grandfather of one grandson, creating memories that his family will hold dear in their hearts.

Chris shared a special bond with his brothers, Barry Gilbert from Illinois and David Gilbert of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was the son of the late David and Patricia Gilbert, who provided him with a nurturing foundation that he cherished throughout his life.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Chris had a passion for car racing, a hobby that brought him joy and excitement. His spirited enthusiasm for life will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

A memorial gathering to honor Chris's life will be held at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, Indiana, on February 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Chris's kindness and spirit are invited to come and celebrate his legacy.
