Kendallville – Corbin G. Ellenberger, 21, of Kendallville, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born on January 8, 2003, in Fort Wayne, to Scott and Teresa (Cuney) Ellenberger. Corbin was a welder by trade, currently working for Indiana Millwright Services. He loved to ride anything with an engine – dirt bikes, go karts, and his truck. Corbin was a mechanically inclined person, often working on his own cars. He also enjoyed his craft of welding. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family and friends, playing video games, and putting together Legos. Overall, he was known as an outgoing person who was there for those who needed him. Corbin married Lillyian Danielle Smith on July 3, 2023. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2024.
Corbin is survived by his son, Dakota W. Ellenberger; parents, Scott and Teresa Ellenberger; brothers, Austin M. Ellenberger and Dalton B. Ellenberger; sisters, Halie N. (Jared) Daler and Amelia G. (Matthew) Grubbs; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Cindy Ellenberger, maternal grandparents, Donald and Arlene Cuney; and grandfather, David Pletcher. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Don and Carol Cuney, Jeff and Lanette Ellenberger, Angie and Shane Salisbury, Dan and Karissa Ellenberger, and Aaron and Jamie Ellenberger; and his best friends, Zachary Haupert, Douglas Merriman, Jadyn Gilbert, and Matt Mezzina. In addition to his wife, Lillyian, Corbin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn Pletcher, and friend, Keaton Osmun.
A funeral service in honor of Corbin will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 County Road 56, Garrett, with visitation from 9am to 11am prior to the service. Visitation will also be held from 4pm to 8pm on Friday at the funeral home. Those attending are reminded that there is road construction, however, the road to the funeral home remains open and accessible to guests and visitors. Burial will follow the funeral service at Swan Cemetery, rural Avilla.
Contributions may be directed to his family for the establishment of a trust fund for his son, Dakota, or your local suicide prevention organization in Corbin's memory.
