Dale F. Custer, age 82, of Garrett, IN died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1924 in Garrett, IN to A.J. and Sadie (Grube) Custer. Dale was a WWII veteran serving in the US Marines. He married Mary Jean Custer and the had to sons, Bruce and Brian. He married Lori Dirr on June 6, 1982. He was a farmer and Co-Owner of Custer Grain Co. until 1996 when he retired from full time duty, he continued working on a part time basis until 2004. He was a lifetime Garrett resident except from 1996 - 2005 when he lived in Venice, FL. He was a lifetime member of the Garrett American Legion and the Auburn Moose Lodge. He was a member of the South Venice Baptist Church and attended Living Waters Community Church in Garrett, IN. He was President of the DeKalb County Planning Commission for 20 years and a state champion tractor puller for 3 consecutive years. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 4-6 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 6 pm. Rev. William Haworth will oficiate.
