Dale D. Neukom SR. of Garrett, IN, passed away at age 87 on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett. He was born October 13, 1926 in Auburn, IN to Reno and Edith (Carnahan) Neukom and they precede him in death. Dale married Theda Krum on July 3, 1947 in Ashley, IN and she passed away on May 8, 2001. He retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad where he worked as a Truck Driver for 44 years. He also served in the Army during World War 2. He was a member of the Shirts and Skirts in Auburn and the Pistols and Petticoats in Ft. Wayne. He was also a member of the Garrett American Legion and the Garrett United Methodist Church. Dale is survived by his son, Dale Jr (Debbie) Neukom of Garrett; daughter, Debra (Pat) Casey of Eugene, OR; brother, Don Neukom of Ft. Wayne; 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Theda Neukom, parents Reno and Edith Neukom; daughter-in-law, Deborah McCullough Neukom; half- brother, Robert Carnahan; half- sister, Jody Hulse. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 3-7 pm and 1 hour prior to the funeral service at 11 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 County Road 56 Garrett. Burial will follow the funeral service at Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett, IN. Memorials may be made to Garrett United Methodist Church or Church at Garrett.
