David was born May 23, 1953 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Robert F. and Leotos "Molly" A. (Hughes) Garrett and they preceded him in death. He married Starr E. Traster on October 8, 1988 in Garrett; IN. David worked for 31 years at Bond-Citation in Butler, 5 years at Contech in Auburn, IN and the last 3 years at Ft. Wayne Metals as a quality auditor. He attended Grace Christian Church - Kendallville, IN. David is survived by his wife: Starr E. Garrett, Garrett, IN; a son: Robert David Garrett, Ft. Wayne, IN and a daughter: Samantha Dawn Nichols, Ft. Wayne, IN. He is also survived by 2 step-sons and a step-daughter: Thomas F. Rodman, Auburn, IN; Todd L. Rodman, Kendallville, IN and Sheila A. Slabaugh, Garrett, IN. David is also survived by 16 grandchildren,1 great grandchild, a brother: Larry Garrett, Port St. Lucie, FL and a sister: Ruth Ann Baldwin, Garrett, IN. Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN with Pastor Chris Mosley officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Highland Park Cemetery - Ft. Wayne, IN Memorials are to the DeKalb Heart Association.
