Debra Lee (Gerhardt) Teixeira age 64 of Garrett, IN died at 12:52 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital – Fort Wayne, IN. She was born May 8, 1953 in Hicksville, OH to Rolf and Margaret (Slaughter) Gerhardt. She married Clayton A. Teixeira on October 10, 1970 in Garrett, IN.

Debra was a paraprofessional at Garrett High school for 25 years, retiring in 2013. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School in the summers.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ – Garrett, IN.

Debra is survived by her husband: Clayton Teixeira, Garrett, IN; 3 sons: David (Mel) Teixeira, Decatur, IN; Derek (Julie) Teixeira, Crown Point, IN; Derren (Christine) Teixeira, Ft. Wayne, IN ; mother: Margaret Gerhardt (Jim) Jones, Hicksville, IN; 7 grandchildren: Paige , Maddox, Drew, Courtney, Easton, Graham, and Emersyn Teixeira; 3 sisters: Stacy (Dick) McGrew, Washington, IA; Kris Carson, Garrett, IN; Jodi (Brendon) Flanary, Hicksville, OH.

Debra was preceded in death by her father: Rolf Gerhardt, brother: Michael Gerhardt.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018 at the First Church of Christ – Garrett, IN with Brother Bud Owen officiating.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. and from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday at the First Church of Christ – Garrett, IN
