Donna Jean Chaffin, 78 of Garrett, IN; died on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Select Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 21, 1931 in Flint, MI to Walter Irvine and Alena Mae (Hogg) Gould. Donna graduated from Flint Northern High School in Flint, MI. She married Rev. W. Calvin Chaffin on January 27, 1951 in Angola, IN and he died September 17, 2004. She had worked for Bell Telephone and Maas Bros. in Flint. She has been a Garrett resident since 1996. She was affiliated with numerous General Baptist Churches over many years. Donna was active in Women's Missions Ministries with General Baptist Denominations. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Donald Calvin and Tonya (Avery) Chaffin of Garrett, IN; granddaughters, Tara and Mike Lilly, Tricia and Chad Rayle and Trina and Kip Rayle all of Garrett, IN; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Ron Gould of Lupton, MI and her sisters, Leona Margie Eberline of Cass City, MI; Carolyn Cronk of Berkley, MI and Sandy Russell of National City, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Lowell Chaffin who was born and died on August 10, 1954, brothers- William Kenneth, Donald and Ray Gould and sisters- Wanda Lee and Louise Blackmer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, IN and on Wednesday, October 28 from 2-8 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home in Flint, MI. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29 at 11 a.m. with calling 1 hour prior at Swartz Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Jolly Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Grand Blanc, MI. Memorials are to the Donor's Choice
