Edward "Ed" Howard, age 81 of Garrett died at 9:12 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett. He was born January 17, 1929 in Maggoffin County, KY to Toney and Grace (Hicks) Howard. He was a laborer at the Auburn Foundry for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Edward is survived by a brother, Paul (Lana) Howard of Auburn; 4 sisters, Mary (Henry) Isham of Garrett, Milgie (Frank) Dennis of Franklin, IN, Mavis Vanderpool of Garrett and Glenna Rugman of Auburn and a sister in-law, Ovie Howard of Hueysville, KY. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ell Howard. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett. The service will follow at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home with Celebrant Ryan Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett. Memorials are to the donor's choice.
