Obituary

Edward E. Schlotterback, age 60 of Marion, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died June 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 11, 1952 in Garrett, IN to Earl M. and Elsie E. (Kleiber) Schlotterback and they preceded him in death. Edward had an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Electronic Technology from Ivy Tech; a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Southern Indiana University; an Associate of Science Degree in Vocational Technical Education from State Technical Institute at Memphis; an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Los Angeles Metropolitan College and many other degrees. Edward was a history buff and enjoyed family trips to New York, mowing the lawn, Sci-Fi programs, tinkering with machines and electronics, long walks enjoying nature, steam engines and Jim Hendrix. He taught electronics at ITT and worked in quality control at Magnavox - Garrett, IN and King Sealy - Kendallville, IN. Edward was a member of St. John Lutheran Church - Kendallville, IN and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was a member of a wide variety of other organizations. He served in the Marine Corp. for 8 yrs. Edward is survived by 2 daughters and a son: Bethany (Mark) Heileman; Emily Schlotterback and Brett Schlotterback all of Kendallville, IN and a step daughter: Kim Miceli, Sedona, AZ. He is survived by a brother: Eugene (Lorna) Schlotterback, Garrett, IN and 7 grandchildren: Sataya Starr Grubb, Christian Heileman, Brendon Heileman, Melissa Heileman, Mason Fulk and Mattox Schlotterback all of Kendallville, IN and Esa Wnetrzak, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Deborah Schlotterback. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church - Kendallville, IN with Pastor Paul Grabill officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN. Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN with military graveside services by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church or St. John Lutheran School
