Eldon S. Hile, age 81, of Garrett, died on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1933 in Albion to the late Chandes A. and Stella S. (Strouse) Hile. He was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in the Korean Conflict. He married Donna L. DePew on September 12, 1964 in Garrett and she survives in Garrett. Eldon was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garrett American Legion and VFW. He is also survived by three daughters and son in-laws, Mary and Jeff Schendel of Garrett, Patty and Bobby Carroll of Jefferson City, TN and Sally and Tom Shoudel of Garrett and 8 grandchildren, Beau, Bryce and Brett Schendel; Bo William Carroll and Tressa Caroll and Madison, Pete and Grace Shoudel. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis Hile; brother, Dallas Hile and sister, Betty Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett, with Fr. Andrew Nazareth officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett, with military graveside honors by the US Navy, Garrett American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett. Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Masses.
