Elsie E. Schlotterback, 78 of Garrett, IN; died on Saturday, August 22,2009 at 5:45 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett. She was born April 27, 1931 in Marysville, OH to Walter and Laura (Rausch) Kleiber. She married Earl M. Schlotterback on December 8, 1950 in Garrett. He passed away August 3, 2002. Elsie worked at the Creek Chub Bait Company and also Co-Owned Schlotterback's Grocery. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett and former member of the Garrett Garden Club. She is survived by a son, Edward Schlotterback of Garrett and a son and daughter in-law, Eugene and Lorna Schlotterback of Garrett. Her brother, Ralph and Grace Ann Kleiber of Raymond, OH; sisters, Bernette and Loren Nicol of Marysville and Dorothy and Ray McCarty of Marysville. Also survivng is her uncle, Alfred Blumenschein of Marysville and her aunts, Bertha and Frances Kleiber of Marysville. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Kim Miceli of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter Bethany and Mark Heileman of Kendallville, IN; granddaughter, Emily Schlotterback of Kendallville and grandson, Brett Schlotterback of Kendallville. Elsie's great grandchildren are Starr Grubb of Kendallville, Esa Wnetrzak of Fort Wayne, Mason Fulk, Melissa Heileman, Christian Heileman and Brenden Heileman all of Kendallville. She is also survived be several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Deborah K. Schlotterback. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, IN and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett with Pastor Jeffrey Horn officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett. Memorials are to the Lutheran Hour.
