Esther Catherine Claxton age 101 of Garrett, IN died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor - Garrett, IN. Esther was born August 16, 1914 in Rome City, IN to Arthur and Arminda "Minnie" (Huff) Geib. Esther married Leo R. Claxton on May 11, 1937 in Butler, IN and he died December 3, 1986. Esther was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching Hoosier Basketball and spending time with family. Esther is survived by 2 sons: Glen "Skip" and Rebecca "Becky" Claxton, Garrett, IN; Jerry and Debbie Claxton, Auburn, IN and a daughter: Sharon L. Shenk, Bozman, MD. She is survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Leo R. Claxton; parents: Arthur and Arminda "Minnie" Geib; 2 brothers: Lloyd Geib and Robert Geib; 1 sister: Hazel Kiebel; son in-law: Bill Shenk and 1 grandson: Chuck Shenk. Services for Esther will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17,2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN with Rev. Andrew Yeager officiating, Visitation will take place 2 hours prior - from 9 - 11 a.m. Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home.
