Eston W. Hathaway age 89 of Ft. Wayne, IN went to join his loving wife in heaven on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Story Point North – Ft. Wayne, IN. Eston was born April 30, 19327 in DeKalb County, IN to Elmer Leo and Laurine Jo (Downing) Hathaway and they preceded him in death. He married Janet L. Atkins on June 8, 1958 in Ft. Wayne, IN and she passed on February 6, 2022.

Eston served our country in the National Guard and was a self -employed masonry contractor until 1990 and then worked for Hagerman Construction.

He started the Midwest Masonry Coalition and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church – Ft. Wayne, IN.

Eston is survived by his son: Joel Hathaway, Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers: DeWayne “Bud” Hathaway, Garrett, IN; George Hathaway, Ft. Myers, FL; sisters: Jeanette Scheurich, Garrett, IN ; Faith Ann Galligher, Garrett, IN; 6 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Eston was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer Leo and Laurine Jo Hathaway; wife: Janet L. Hathaway; daughter: Susan Ginger; and several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN with Pastor Jacob Kohler officiating,

A Gathering of Friends and family will preceded the service from Noon – 1 p.m.
