Ethel V. (Schurr) Bohrer age 101 died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett where she had been a resident for over 1 year. Ethel was born March 25, 1910 in Garrett to Marion P. and Anna O. (Buesart) Higgins and they preceded her in death. She married Wilmer Schurr in April 1931 and he died in January 1948. She married John Bohrer later in life and he preceded her in death also. Ethel was a beautician and owned and operated the Schurr Curl Shop in Garrett for 35 years. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garrett. Ethel is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly Carper of Garrett and Carol Schlabach of Fort Wayne; a son, Robert Schurr of Florida; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Ethel was preceded in death by her husbands, Wilmer Schurr, Marion Wells, Paul Bultemier and John Bohrer; her parents; a son, David Schurr; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. The will be no visitation or services for the public and private services will take place at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett, IN Memorials are to the donor's choice.
