Evelyn M. Shumway, age 90, of Garrett, died Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born March 2, 1924 in Garrett to the late Daniel D. and Elva M. (Shirk) Smith. She married Ralph F. Shumway on August 23, 1947 and he died on April 28, 2011. Evelyn was an Inspector at Bauman & Harnish retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church and Garrett American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Kim and Kathy Shumway of Garrett; three grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Sobieski and Geraldine Smith. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 6-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56 Garrett. Memorials are to Garrett United Methodist Church.
