Floyd A. Fetter age 86 of Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, IN and former Garrett resident died at 9:32 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Parkview Noble Hospital , Kendallville, IN. Floyd was born November 23, 1920 in Garrett to John J. and Mary B. (Foulk) Fetter. He worked on the B & O Railroad before entering the service. He was a WW II army veteran serving with the 728th Railroad Division, being discharged on Decemebr 5, 1945. He met Marjorie M. Kutchey in May 1946 and married her November 28, 1946 in Lansing, MI.and she preceded him in death. He worked in the smokehouse at Peter Eckrich Meats in Fort Wayne for 30 years,retiring in 1981. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph catholic Church and the Rosary Society in Garrett, IN. He was a life member of the Garrett Eagles and american Legion Post #178, serving as a Past Commander. Past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council #1790 and Past Faithful Navigator of Anthony Wayne Assembly, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was a charter member of Mother Teresa 4th Degree Assembly #2581 in Garrett, IN. He was a member of the Garrett Alumni Association, Garrett Lions Club, Historical Society, and board member of the Garrett Community Center. He was very active in the Boy Scout Program and he was a former co-owner of Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, IN. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Thomas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garrett, IN, with calling at the church from 10-11 a.m. The rosary service will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Garrett, IN The family request that in lieu of flowers being sent, please make memorials to St. Joseph School, Garrett American Legion, Garrett Community YMCA, Provena Sacred Heart Home, Garrett Lions Club or Donors choice. Survivors include: Daughter - Connie Myers, Garrett, IN Son and Daughter In-Law - Ron and Betty Fetter, Sealy, TX Son and Daughter In-Law - Bill and Star Fetter, Kendallville, IN Son and Daughter In-Law - John and Anne Fetter, Goshen, IN Daughter and Son In-Law - Anita and Steve Tullis, Corunna, IN Daughter and Son In-Law - Tina and Tom Drzewiecki, Garrett, IN 10 Grandchildren 6 Great Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews Preceded in death by: Wife - Marjorie Fetter Parents - John J. and Mary B. Fetter Grandson - Mark A. Myers Brother - Edward Fetter Sisters - Coletta Wyss, Catherine Fetter, Sister Anna Rita Fetter, Mary Frances Fetter, and Bernadine Fetter.
