Gary A. Cook age 72 of Syracuse, IN and previously of Huntertown, IN died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center – Ft. Wayne. Gary was born June 12, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, IN to Bernard and Hope (Kuzeff) Cook and they preceded him in death. He married Diana (August) Johnston on September 11, 1993 in Garrett, IN. He was a self-employed carpenter and Vietnam Navy Veteran.

He was a member of the Altarstar United Methodist Church – Garrett, IN.

Gary is survived by his wife: Diana Cook, Syracuse, IN; daughter: Laura (Brad) Vanderburgh, La Masa, CA; 4 sons: Tate (Leslie) Cook, Angola, IN; Jeff Johnston, Moline, IL; Jason (Kathy) Cook, Pittsburg, PA; Robert "Todd" Johnston, El Cajon, CA; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Bernard and Hope Cook; sister: Nancy Randall and brother: William Cook.

Visitation will be from Noon – 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN

Services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Springstead officiating.

Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery – Garrett, IN
