George C. James of Auburn, Indiana August 19, 1924 - December 11, 2016 George C. James age 92 of Auburn, IN died Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Presence Sacred Heart Home - Avilla, IN. George was born August 19, 1924 in Garrett, IN to Myrle and Floy (Hensinger) James and they preceded him in death. O April 28, 1945 in Auburn, IN he married Berniece O Edwards and she died on January 24, 2002. George was a machinist and worked in the tool room at Auburn Gear for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He drove the Book Mobile for the Eckhart Public Library from 1990-1998. George was a WW II Army veteran and was a member of the Garrett American Legion and Auburn Moose. George is survived by a son: Dwight James, Fort Wayne, IN; 2 daughters: Sandra (Gerald) Lockwood, Waterloo, IN; Karen (David) Carter, Auburn, IN; 4 grandchildren: Sheldon Lockwood, Auburn, IN; Tina (Donel) Helbert, Auburn, IN; Matthew Carter, Auburn, IN; Audria Carter, Auburn, IN; 5 great grandchildren: Dain, Tawney, and Ashton Helbert, Auburn, IN; Skyler and Parker Lockwood, Auburn, IN. George was preceded in death by his parents: Myrle and Floy James; wife: Berniece O. James; 2 sisters: Betty Gafken and Ardelle Wing Visitation will take place from 2-7 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN and from 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home - Garrett, IN with Tom Novy officiating. Burial will take place with military graveside honors by the United States Army and the Garrett American Legion and VFW at Woodlawn Cemetery - Auburn, IN.
