George W. Schultz of Garrett, Indiana December 13, 1929 - November 21, 2016 George W Schultz, age 86 from Garrett Indiana, passed away on November 21, 2016. He was born on December 13, 1929 in Blue Island IL to Walter and Elizabeth (Rauwolf) Schultz. George enjoyed his long career as Railroad Engineer and retired after more than 40 years from CSX in 1989. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran and was stationed in Germany. George will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving husband, awesome father and grandfather and favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He lived his life with enthusiasm and loved gardening, camping, and vacations of any kind. After retirement, he often spent winters in Florida or Arizona with family and friends. George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church in Garrett and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW and was PER of The Garrett Elks. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Marjorie (Gavin), his children Mary Kay (Matt) Kucharski of Westminster CO, Joyce (Kenn) Werner of Milwaukee WI, Theresa (Bill) Wingrove of Fishers IN, George (Betsy) Schultz of Garrett IN, and Christine (Shane) DeMarco of Garrett IN; grandchildren JoAnne Michael and son Jacob of Carson City NV, Brandon Schultz (Stephani) and children Greydon and Elyse of Fort Wayne IN, Joseph Werner (Hayley) and children Tegan and Otto George of Milwaukee WI, Stephanie Handley (Brandon) and children Madelyn, Brady, Chase and Cole of South Bend IN, Justin Schultz (fiancée Larissa) of Indianapolis IN, Gavin Werner (fiancée Krystal) of St. Paul MN, Ross Troeger of South Bend IN, Anne Werner of Milwaukee WI, Logan DeMarco of Garrett IN, Elizabeth Cavanaugh of Muncie IN, Fallon DeMarco of Westminster CO, Sam Cavanaugh of Muncie IN and Dylan George DeMarco of Garrett IN. George is also survived by his brother Richard (Mary) Schultz of Delavan WI, Betty Rushworth of Colorado Springs CO and Walter (Janice) Schultz of Yorba Linda CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Patricia (Schultz) Troeger and his brother-in-law Larry Rushworth. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garrett IN at 11 a.m. on Saturday November 26, 2016. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett IN. Military Graveside Honors will will take place in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN by the U.S. Army and the Garrett American Legion Post #178.
