Georgiana Grace Bowes, 105, of Warren, OH and formerly of Garrett, IN died on Monday, August 11, 2008. She was born August 16, 1902 in Fayette Co., PA to Amzi and Luella Grace (Gaddis) Vail. She married David M. Bowes on November 1, 1934 in Smock, PA and he preceded her in death in October of 1960. She was a Garrett resident from 1947-1993. She graduated from the Cedar Crest College for Women in Allentown, PA. She was a school teacher in Uniontown, PA and also taught 3rd grade for 15 years in the Garrett-Keyser-Butler school system. During her career she taught grades 1-12. She retired in 1970. She was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church, Tri-Kappa Sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution. Georgiana was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. On her 105th birthday, she was named Citizen of the Day by Mayor Michael O'brien of Warren, OH. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Garrett United Methodist Church.
