Obituary

Gerald "Duke" Davis, age 69 of Garrett, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. He was born August 25, 1943 in Garrett to George Harper and Dolores T. "Mickey" (McGuire) Davis. He married Carolanne Geer on June 30, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV and she died February 12, 2008. He was a US Navy veteran. Duke was a machinist at Dana in Auburn and president of UAW Local #164 for 32 A½ years, retiring on May 1, 2001. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garrett, UAW, Garrett Eagles and a lifetime member of the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Duke is survived by his mother, Dolores "Mickey" Muzzillo of Garrett; 2 brothers, George Davis of Auburn and Bill Muzzillo of Fort Wayne; 2 sisters, Linda Miller of Auburn and Ann Lewis of Garrett; a step-son, Raymond Risner of Stockbridge, MI; a step-daughter, Dawn Kalusha of Stockbridge, MI; 5 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Duke was preceded in death by his wife, Carolanne Davis, father, George Harper Davis and step father, William Joseph Muzzillo. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Garrett, with Fr. Andrew Nazareth officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Christian Union Cemetery. Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School in Garrett, IN.
