Gerald R. "Jerry" Johnson age 86 of Garrett, IN died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital - Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born June 18, 1929 in Garrett, IN to Michael and Magdalena (Bapst) Johnson and they preceded him in death. He married Marjorie Fenstermaker on January 14, 1950 in Garrett, IN and she died July 9, 1994. Gerald was a mail carrier for 27 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church - Garrett, IN and the Garrett American Legion Post #178. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Gerald was raised by his aunt and uncle, Clara and Ed Boff of Garrett, IN. Gerald is survived by his daughter: Lisa (Tim) Thrush, Waterloo, IN; 2 granddaughters: Erin (Ryan) Tuttle, Corunna, IN; Megan (Kevin) Bettag, Indianapolis, IN; 4 great grandchildren: Walt, Gwen and Reid Bettag Indianapolis, IN and Rowan Tuttle, Corunna, IN. He is also survived by his companion: Doris McIntosh, Garrett, IN Gerald was preceded in death by his Parents: Michael and Magdalena Johnson, wife: Marjorie Johnson, and 3 brothers: Orville Johnson, Daniel Seifert and Harold Johnson and 4 sisters: Lucille Todd, Marcella Lewis, Lorraine Johnson, and Esther Wilson.
