Gerry G. Snook, 91, of Garrett, Indiana, passed away at his home in Garrett.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1932, in Deshler, Ohio, to Rodney D. and Audrey M. (Crawford) Snook.
Gerry served in the Naval Reserves from Nov 4, 1950, until Sept 18, 1966. He served on active duty three times and temporary duty once. Gerry served aboard three ships, with the last deployment being during the Vietnam War.
He also worked for R.E.A. (Railway Express) Trucking and following his retirement he was a bartender for the Eagles, Moose Lodge and Auburn American Legion. He belonged to the Garrett Eagles, Garrett American Legion, VFW, Waynedale AMVETS, Auburn Moose Lodge, Effingham, Illinois Elks, and DAV.
On March 28, 1958, in St. Joe, Indiana, he married Mary Jane Shuff. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2007.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon (Mack) Short, of Auburn; sons, Steven "Bob" Snook, of Garrett and Timothy Snook, of Auburn. Also surviving are four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patrish Brown; sons, Michael Snook and Kevin Snook; brother, Rodney G. Snook; and sister, Winifred McMillan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan 8, 2024, at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Visitation will also be from 3-7 p.m., on Sunday, Jan 7, 2024, at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett.
