Gilbert  E. Caldwell age 81 of Auburn, IN and formerly of Garrett, IN died Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Betz Nursing Home – Auburn, IN. Gilbert was born June 22, 1942 in Moorehead, KY to Elza Simpton and Lilly (Ramsey) Caldwell. Gilbert married Rosaleita D. Hart on September 1, 1973 in Garrett, IN and she survives. Gilbert worked as a setup man in the mold department at Mossberg Industries for 29 years, retiring in 2004.

Gilbert is survived by his wife: Rosaleita "Rose" Caldwell, Garrett, IN; 2 sons: Gilbert Caldwell Jr., Garrett,  IN; Kevin (Lori) Caldwell, Ashley, IN, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; step brother: Gilbert L. Caldwell, Moorehead, KY; 2 step sisters: Violet Reed, London, KY and Ruby, MI

Gilbert was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters

Services will take place at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN with Pastor Kelly Banks officiating.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
