Gloria Jean "Tuffi" McPheeters age 91 of Garrett, IN died Sunday, January 12, 2025. Gloria was born December 30, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, IN and was married to James "Gary" McPheeters on March 16, 1957 in Garrett, IN. Gary passed away on July 23, 2019. Gloria was a devoted wife and mother and started her career at General Electric in Ft. Wayne.  After marriage, raised 4 children while working a variety of part time jobs including at the Garrett Cafeteria, Avon, and bookkeeping for  some of the local contractors.

Gloria earned the nickname Tuffi from her Grandfather Nelson when, at a young age, she was exposed to measles by her older brother and other members of the community but did not contract the disease.  The name stuck and she lived up to the name every day of her life.

Gloria was a member of the V.F.W. and Garrett Legion Auxiliary.

Gloria is survived by her daughter: Jamie L. (Tim) Griffin, Garrett, IN; son: Charles B. "Chuck" (Kelly) McPheeters, Freetown, IN; daughter: Jenney L. (Jared) Newby, Huntertown, IN;  grandchildren: Kipp Griffin, Cassie Griffin, Madison Griffin, Nicole McPheeters, Jackson McPheeters,  Megan Newby(Chelsea), and Christopher Newby (CJ); great grandchildren: Olivia and Paisley, and Quincy; brother: Frank "Moose" N. Mossberger, Oro Valley, AZ.

Gloria was preceded in death by a son: Gary N. McPheeters; parents: Charles K. and Fanchon Mossberger; and brother: Robert "Blackie" O. Mossberger

Visitation will take place from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025

at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m.

Burial will take place at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery – Auburn, IN.
