Goldie E. "Mama" Scott age 71, a resident of Garrett, IN for the past 2 months and formerly of Caro, MI died Saturday afternoon, September 22, 2012 at DeKalb Health in Auburn, IN after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born February 6, 1941 in Fairgrove, MI to James A. and Martha M. (Houghteling) Orton and they preceded her in death. Goldie married Allen J. Scott on August 30, 1958 in Caro, MI and he survives in Garrett, IN. Goldie was a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Caro, MI for 10 years, retiring June 1, 2012. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always keeping her family as her top priority. She enjoyed her time working at Wal-Mart with her friends and was a people person. "You were lucky to have her in your life". Goldie is survived by her husband: Allen J. Scott, Garrett, IN; 2 daughters: Nanette (Gary) Lindahl, Caro, MI; Shelly (Jesse) Bachman, Garrett, IN and 2 sons: Robert (Martha) Scott, Kingston, MI and Steven Scott, Garrett, IN. Goldie is survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. 4 brothers: Raymond, Theron, Shane and Harold Orton survive along with 3 sisters: Lillian Scott, Virginia Anderson, and Kay Orton. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents: James A. and Martha M. Orton; a granddaughter: Goldie Scott; and 3 brothers: Kenneth, Junior and Herbie Lee Orton. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Ransford Collon Funeral Home, 205 West Sherman St., Caro,MI. 48723. There will be a calling in of friends and family 30 minutes prior to services. Memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
