Gwendolyn A. Clabaugh, 79 of Garrett, died on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her residence. She was born August 24, 1931 in Wauksa, WI to Otto A. and Lillian M. (Morse) Hitz and they preceded her in death. She had worked in Assembly at Mossberg Hubbard and was the head union steward until her retirement in 1982. She then was a dispatcher at the Heimach Center in Auburn for several years. She is survived by two daughters, Linda K. (Steven) Meyer and Canice M. (Juris) Adamsons both of Garrett; three sons, Calvin C. (Vickie) Clabaugh of Waterloo, Simon R. Clabaugh of WI and James F. (Gabriella) Clabaugh of Reading, MI; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, a brother, Frank E. Hitz of Murphysboro, AR; three sisters, Margaret (Gordon) Smith of Oconenowoc, WI, Debbie (Lance) Marshardt of Waupaco, WI and Sharon Patryas of Waupaco, WI. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Otto Hitz Jr. and John Hitz; two sisters, Elsie Milan Smith and Lauretta Zipfel and a grandchild. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 9 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56 with Pastor Tom Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery in Garrett. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to the DeKalb Home Health and Hospice.
