Gwendolyn Steigmeyer age 84 of Garrett, IN died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Vibra Hospital - Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 5, 1927 in Garrett, IN to Forrest and Georgia (Snyder) Moats and they preceded her in death. She married Jerome "Jerry" E. Steigmeyer on May 22, 1948 in Garrett, IN and he died October 26, 1993. Gwendolyn worked as an inspector at Electric Motors in Garrett, IN for 17 years. She was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority. Gwendolyn is survived by 3 daughters: Marcia Krontz, Garrett, IN; Cindy (Richard) Rassel, Garrett, IN and Kathy (James) Grawcock, LaOtto, IN. She is also survived by her 2 sons: Steve Steigmeyer, Dripping Springs, TX and Mark (Michelle) Steigmeyer, Churubusco, IN. Her brother Jack (Fern) Moats survives in Auburn, IN. She had 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents: Forrest and Georgia Moats, Husband: Jerome "Jerry" Steigmeyer and a sister: Jeanette Balthazar. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home and from 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN Memorials are to the DeKalb Heart Association.
