Herman W. Jensen, 92 of Garrett, IN died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett. He was born April 18, 1917 in Syracuse, IN to Ladene and Ida (Kitson) Jensen. He married Betty E. Holloway on December 31, 1939 in the Wayne Street Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, IN. Herman was a conductor on the CSX Railroad for 41 years before retiring May 5, 1982. He was a member of the Garrett United Methodist Church, Garrett Masonic City Lodge No. 537 and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite. Herman was a loving and caring Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty E. Jensen of Garrett; a daughter, Karen and Lee Johnson of Angola, IN; a son, Michael and Bobbie Jensen of Fort Wayne and a daughter, Kim and Bill Schaab of Auburn, IN. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Lower. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held on Monday, October 5 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Funeral Celebrant Ryan Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, IN. Memorials are to the Garrett United Methodist Church of DeKalb Memorial Hospice.
