Hoot Denzel Gibson, age 81 of Garrett, IN died at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Decmeber 29, 2007. He was one of eleven children. He was born on November 15, 1926 in Chestpeake, WV to Carl Wade and Addie (Bennett) Gibson, they preceded him in death. He married Wilma Jean Straight on January 25, 1949 in Millersville, WV. and she survives in Garrett, IN. Mr.Gibson was a WWII Navy Veteran from 1944-1946. He worked in the coal mines of West Virginia and was also a mechanic in Zanesville, OH. He was a truck driver for Martin in Fort Wayne, IN and Rugman and Hanson in Chicago, IL. He retired in 1988 from the Garrett Marathon Station after 25 years as Manager. He was a member of the Garrett Eagles, Garrett Elks, Waterloo VFW, Auburn Moose and the Garrett American Legion Post #178. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard Pickard officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, IN with military graveside services by the Garrett American Legion and VFW. Memorials are to the family or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46814 Survivors include: Son - Donald Wade Gibson of Garrett, IN Daughter - Barbara and Val Miller of Sandy Lake, PA Daughter - Rita and Ron Betz of Auburn, IN Daughter - Kathy Van Allen and Jack Lane of Kendallville, IN Daughter - Bonnie and Kenny Woods of Huntington, IN 7 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren 2 Great Great Grandchildren Brother - Paul and Betty Gibson of Patuskala, OH Preceded in death by: Parents and 9 Brothers and Sisters
