Jackie "Jack" J. Snyder age 86 of Garrett, IN died Thursday morning at DeKalb Health in Auburn, IN. He was born April 9, 1926 in Ohio and his parents were Justie and Altha (Bherens) Snyder. He married Maveline Ruth Dennison on September 6, 1947 in Garrett, IN and she survives. Jack worked as a fireman on the B & O Railroad for 10 years and then the next 45 years for Broadview Lumber - Garrett and Big C Lumber - Auburn, retiring in 2006. He was a WW II Army veteran, serving in Japan from 1944-1946. He was a member of the First Church of Christ - Garrett, IN and Freewill Baptist Church - Waterloo, IN. Jack enjoyed being outdoors, railroading, and woodworking in his garage. Jack is survived by his wife: Maveline Ruth Snyder, Garrett, IN; a daughter: JoAnn (DeWayne) Robbins, Garrett, IN and a son: Jeffery (Lisa) Snyder, Rome City, IN. Jack was survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Lucille Ester Sleek and a grandchild. There will be no visitation or services.
