James M. Haynes age 81 of Garrett, IN died Friday, December 28, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor – Garrett, IN. Jim was born March 17, 1937 in Garrett, IN to George Herber and Ida M. (Yarde) Haynes.

Jim married Joy E. Stump on August 11, 1963 in North Liberty, IN and she died September 21, 1989. He later married Chloe A. Gramling on January 5, 1991 in Garrett, IN. Jim was a lifelong farmer and member of the Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren – Auburn, IN. He was also a member of the Garrett Lions Club and the Farm Bureau.

Jim is survived by his wife: Chloe A. Haynes, Garrett, IN; sons: Gary Haynes, Greenwood, IN; Phil Haynes, Garrett, IN; Brad Miller, Ankney, IA; Brian Miller, Garrett, IN; Brendan Miller, Fishers, IN; daughters: Linda Haynes, Chicago, IL and Sharon Chrisman, Fishers, IN; sister: Mary Wolf, Angola, IN; 15 grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife: Joy E. Haynes; parents: George Herber and Ida M. Haynes; brothers: John E. Haynes, Richard L. Haynes, Wilber Haynes and Wayne Haynes.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Cedar Lake Church of the Brethren with Pastor Duane Grady officiating.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home and from 9 – 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will follow in Christian Union Cemetery – Garrett, IN
