James R. "Jim" Knott of Garrett, Indiana October 6, 1940 - December 10, 2016 James R. "Jim" Knott age 76 of Garrett, IN died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Laurels of DeKalb Nursing Home. Jim was born October 6, 1940 in LaOtto, IN to Robert J. and Eloise L. (Hogue) Knott and they preceded him in death. James married Jacqueline Gingrich on July 15, 1961 Jim hauled canned milk for 20 years in the Amish community. He later worked for LaOtto Excavating for 32 years, always making new lifelong friends. Jim was a member of the DeKalb County Horseman's Association and enjoyed showing and working his black Percheron team with his son and grandsons. He was also a member of the Garrett Eagles. Jim is survived by his wife: Jackie Knott, Garrett, IN; daughter: Jami (Shawn) Koble, Garrett, IN; son: Jeff (Dena) Knott, Garrett, IN; 2 brothers: Fred Knott, LaOtto, IN; William (Arlene) Knott, LaOtto, IN; sister: Judy (Stuart) Harshman, Garrett, IN; 6 grandchildren: Kyle Knott, LaOtto, IN; Lane Koble, Garrett, IN; Trace (Lindsey Yarde) Koble, Garrett, IN; Tasha (Robbie) Wells, Churubusco, IN; Keegan Knott, Garrett, IN; Kerrigan "Butch" Knott, Garrett, IN; 4 great grandchildren: Aniston Knott and Laney Knott, LaOtto, IN and Elizabeth Wells and Olivia Wells, Churubusco, IN. Visitation will take place from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN. DeKalb County Horseman's Association will present a service at 7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home with Funeral Celebrant Thomas Drzewiecki officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery - rural Garrett with the casket entering the cemetery on a funeral caisson wagon.
