James S. Shroads age 82 of Garrett, IN and formerly of Diamond Lake – Wawaka, IN. died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. James was born May 13, 1936 in Pittsburg, PA to Herbert S. and Ethel M. (Sias) Shroads. James worked as a quality assurance rep. for the federal government for 26 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Waynedale American Legion and was a United States Army Veteran.

James is survived by his wife: Eyvond Shroads, Garrett, IN; 2 sons: Jerry (Michelle) Shroads, Garrett, IN; Ronald (Linda) Shroads, Waterloo, IN; 2 daughters: Sandra (John) Michels, Garrett, IN; Valerie Shroads, Garrett, IN; sister: Donna McBarron, Louisville, KY; 8 grandchildren: Jeremy Shroads, Stanley Shroads, Kelsie (Damon) Gentis, Justin Shroads, Carl Shroads, Johnelle (Josh) Kinzer, Trenton (Melissa) Baird, Danielle (Billy) Recker and 9 great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert S. and Ethel M Shroads; brother: Thomas Shroads

Private Family Services will be held with Tom Novy officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery – Ft. Wayne, IN with military funeral honors presented by the Garrett American Legion, Garrett VFW and the United States Army.
