Obituary

Jerry James McMaken age 80 of Garrett, IN died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home. He was born October 14, 1937 in Fort Wayne, IN to Lyle Howard and Georgie A. (Porter) McMaken. He married Betty Jean Colgan on May 12, 1962 in Garrett, IN and she died on June 15, 2014. Jerry retired from quality control at Auburn Gear – Auburn. Jerry was a United States Navy veteran.

Jerry was a member of the Auburn Church of Christ, Garrett Eagles, Fraternal Order Knights of Pythias – Auburn, Grand Chancellor 1994-1995, Pythian Sisters – Auburn Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassar and Nomads of Abrudaka.

Jerry is survived by his son: Jerry Jay (Beth) McMaken, Altona, IN; Daughter: Janell (Dan) Garman, Ft. Wayne, IN; son in-law: Dan Premo, St. Joe, IN; Grandchildren: Lyle Freeze, Dalton Premo, Kevan (Amber) McMaken, Tyler (Ashley) McMaken, Jessica Neuhaus and family, Chelsea Neuhaus and family, Kele (Samantha) Jennings, Grace Garman, Justin Garman, Joshua Garman, Georgia Garman; great granddaughter: Aurora Freeze; great grandson: Reece Arthur McMaken; brother: Albert McMaken, Columbia City, IN; sister: Anita Carnahan, St. Joe, IN.

Proceeded in death by his wife: Betty Jean McMaken; parents: Lyle Howard and Georgie A. McMaken; daughter: Jodi Premo; brother: Howard Lyle McMaken.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN.

Knights of Pythias services will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2017 at Auburn Church of Christ, 208 West 18th St., Auburn, IN with calling from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Andy Grimms

Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery – St. Joe, IN.

Military graveside honors by the United States Navy and the Garrett American Legion Post #178
