Joann Kovets age 87 of LaOtto, IN passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Joann was born February 2, 1939 in Kendallville, IN to Homer and Berniece H. (Woodruff) Moody

Joann married William F. Kovets on September 25, 1960 in Avilla, IN and he survives in LaOtto.

Joann had worked in the cafeteria at the LaOtto School and was active with her husband in the LaOtto Fire Department.

Joann is survived by her husband: William Kovets, LaOtto, IN; 3 sons: Kevin (Karen) Kovets, Erie, CO; Kyle (Tari) Kovets, Waterloo, IN; Kelly (Debbie) Kovets, LaOtto, IN.; brother: Michael Rodman, Kendallville, IN; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren

Joann was preceded in death by her parents: Homer and Berniece Moody; 3 sisters: Betty Campbell, Sharon Svoboda, and Karen Weyrick.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home, 1277 C.R. 56, Garrett, IN,

A Graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Swan Cemetery – Swan, IN with Funeral Celebrant Thomas Drzewiecki officiating.
