John W. Colgan age 70 of Garrett, IN died at 6:33 P.M. Monday, December 8, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center - Fort Wayne, IN. He was born April 14, 1944 in Garrett, IN to Karl and Betty (Henry) Colgan and they preceded him in death. He married Betty R. Harter on September29, 1971 in Auburn, IN and she died October 11, 1998. John was a laborer at Newman Foundry/Dalton Foundry in Kendallville for 44 years, retiring in 2008. John is survived by 2 sons: John K. (Tennessee Rhodes) Colgan, Garrett, IN; Robert Colgan, Tiffin, OH; 3 daughters: Laurie (Tom) Wilcoxson, Auburn, IN; Pam Marlowe, Avilla, IN and Peggy (Rick) Kirchner, Tiffin, OH. Surviving are 2 brothers: Floyd "Butch" (Marge) Colgan, Garrett, IN; Duane (Jo) Colgan, Auburn, IN and a brother in-law: Jerry McMaken, Garrett, IN; and 15 grandchildren John was preceded in death by his parents - Karl and Betty Colgan; wife- Betty R. Colgan; Son - Steven L. Pepple and a sister - Betty Jean McMaken. A gathering in of friends and family will take place from 10 - 11 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Church At Garrett - 1370 S. Randolph St., Garrett, IN with a memorial service held at 11 a.m. officiating will be Pastor Tom Wilcoxson. Burial will take place in Christian Union Cemetery - Garrett, IN Memorials are to the family to assist with expenses.
